Back to the Inside out season event

The Back to the Inside Out season event is a time-limited PvE mode designed to help players earn points for the Season pass.

Each match lasts 30 minutes, and the goal is to collect Onyx, which can then be converted into Season pass points at a 10 to 1 ratio.

So, if a player extracts 10,000 Onyx, they’ll receive 1,000 Season pass points.

At the moment, only the regular mode is available. The ranked mode will be introduced later.

How to enter the Inside Out?

While in a safe zone, a player can start a match at any time via the Spring Season menu — go to the “Event” tab and hit the “Play” button.

Before each match, players choose between three locations, each with its own difficulty level.

After every eruption, the set of available locations is updated.

Choosing difficulty

Difficulty affects several key aspects of the run:

  • Onyx multiplier;
  • Intensity of passive distortion;
  • NPC and mutant balance;
  • Amount of Onyx gained from farming;
  • Boss fight stages;
  • Rewards found in Inside Out safes;
  • Quality of Inside Out artefacts;
  • Amount of stabilized Amalgam needed to exit the Inside Out.

Difficulty also affects the maximum number of Season pass points that can be earned per match:

  • For easy difficulty level — 2000 Season pass points per match;
  • For medium difficulty level — 3000 Season pass points per match;
  • For hard difficulty level — 4000 Season pass points per match.

Which locations are available?

Currently, players can choose from the following locations:

  • Kolos Agrocomplex;
  • Black Willows;
  • Roadside;
  • Forge-11;
  • Stillwaters.

During the season event, the number of available locations will increase to ten.

Distortion

Distortion is a unique infestation effect found in the Inside Out world. It accumulates in the following ways:

  • Passively, while staying in a location. It scales with the match’s difficulty level;
  • By taking damage from NPCs and mutants.

If a player accumulates 1,000 units of distortion, they will die.

To reduce distortion, players must either collect Memoria Fruits scattered around the ground or purchase consumables that lower distortion from the Hub.

Onyx multiplier

In the top-right corner of the screen, players can see various values: match time, total Onyx earned, and the current Onyx multiplier.

The Onyx multiplier depends on:

  • The selected difficulty level;
  • The amount of Onyx the player is currently carrying.

The more Onyx you carry, the higher is the multiplier — meaning you earn Onyx faster.

However, the trade-off is that you also take on more distortion from NPC and mutant damage as the multiplier increases.

The Hub

Items and consumables purchased from the Hub cannot be taken out of the Inside Out.

The Hub is a local shop within the Inside Out, where players can purchase both standard consumables and unique items related to the distortion.

These consumables help players reduce distortion or even respawn and continue their journey within the Inside Out.

Phantom Melody

If a player purchases the Phantom Melody, upon death or reaching the maximum level of distortion, they will transform into a Phantom.

To escape the Phantom state, the player must complete a special challenge and, within a limited time, reach the Altar of Cleansing.

Upon successful completion, the player will revert to their human form.

Stabilization

If a player accumulates an excess of stabilized Amalgam, they will not be able to take it into the open world.

There is a group of items that require stabilization:

  • Amalgam;
  • Inside Out artefacts;
  • Some items found in Inside Out safes.

To extract these items from the Inside Out, players must stabilize them.

Stabilization becomes available after completing the Stabilization installation event.

Once the event is completed, players can use a special sphere to stabilize the required items in exchange for Onyx.

Boss

The Inside Out features unique boss, each with distinct attacks and multiple combat phases.

This boss are designed for team play and is separate from the usual Season pass point grind. Defeating him rewards players not only with unstabilized Amalgam, but also with a key to the Inside Out safes.

Inside Out safes

After clearing a boss, players receive a safe key.

Inside each safe, you can find:

  • Onyx;
  • Unstabilized Amalgam;
  • Two unstabilized Forgotten supplies crates;
  • Two Memoria Extracts.

Depending on the match difficulty, you may also find:

  • Two unstabilized units of standard parts and tools;
  • Two unstabilized units of advanced parts and tools.

Players can open up to six safes per eruption — two safes per difficulty level across three available tiers.

Inside Out artefacts

After each eruption, unique artefacts are born within the Inside Out. Their properties are significantly more powerful than their regular counterparts — but at a cost: they negatively affect other attributes of the bearer.

The Inside Out introduces ten new exclusive artefacts that can only be found within its depths.

Burnt Onyx

The player may use 150 units of Burnt Onyx as a first aid kit.

You can receive Burnt Onyx in the following ways:

  • When stabilizing items;
  • Buy in the Hub with Onyx.

Exit the Inside Out

Depending on the selected difficulty, different amounts of stabilized Amalgam are required for exit.

  • Easy — 8 stabilized Amalgam;
  • Medium — 6 stabilized Amalgam;
  • Hard — 4 stabilized Amalgam.

Upon exiting the Inside Out:

  • All earned Onyx is converted into Season pass points at a 10 to 1 ratio;
  • All stabilized items are transferred to the player’s inventory;
  • All unstabilized items and Inside Out consumables are lost.

Third-person view

While in the Inside Out, the player can press the F5 button and play in third-person view.

Divided quest line

A stalker known as Mockingbird is in serious trouble. It seems that on his last raid into the Inside Out, he lost… himself. Try to save Mockingbird!

The quest is only available during the Back to the Inside Out season event.

Season pass

Reward for 1000 level of Season pass

Upon reaching level 1000, the player will receive a Model No. 47 style and a Deconstructor motif that can be worn on the MK47 Mutant.

The player can customise the weapon at their discretion by wearing either the style together with the motif, or by wearing only the Model No. 47 style.

More details on the mechanics of using both the style and motif at the same time will be described below.

Season challenges

With the upcoming Inside Out, special season challenges of varying difficulty have been added to the game. Can you complete them all?

  • 100 Forgotten supplies crates;

Separation of styles and motifs

More motifs compatible with different styles will be added to the game in the future to allow the player to dive deeper into customising their character.

Interface update

Gear and artefact upgrade interfaces

The interfaces and design of the following entities have been updated:

  • Artefact charge;
  • Gear upgrading;
  • Gear repair.

Consumable item windows have been added to all of these interfaces.

Changes in interface mechanics

You can now use these windows to select items directly from your personal storage, without moving the necessary items to your inventory.

It is also possible to choose which consumables to use, either personal consumables only or transferable with personal ones.

  • Added the ability to repair all gear equipped on a player without having to move each item to a repair slot of the interface.

  • Added a pop-up maximum durability upgrade block to the gear upgrading interface. This block appears instead of consumable slots if there is not enough maximum durability to upgrade gear.

  • The mechanics of artefact overcharge and maximum charge recovery have changed slightly in the artefact charge interface.

Now if you overcharge an artefact with reagent in a slot, the upgrade chance and cost will be calculated as if the artefact has 100% max charge, meaning the player will now use the reagent to its full potential.

Also removed the ability to increase the maximum durability of an artefact with the same artefact, due to the unpopularity of the method and various technical problems.

Switch to the player profile

Added the ability to quickly move directly to the player's profile when clicking on the left side of the block.

Rework of the Klondike

It was decided to reconsider the concept of Klondike, therefore the following changes are made:

  • The overall amount of artefacts spawning in Labyrinth has been increased, and the minimum quality for artefacts in Klondike has been raised to unusual.
  • Within each Klondike, a special infestation is placed that will force you to manage your time wisely while exploring.

The Zone respects courage, but try not to waste any time when you bust into the treasure trove of artefacts.
